JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan asked all residents to comply with his request at a time when positive cases in the capital city of COVID-19 continued to soar over the past few days.

Anies' series of requests include maintaining good health protocols (prokes) and making Saturday and Sunday only days at home.

"We encourage all people in Jakarta and its surroundings to stay at home on Saturday and Sunday, unless there is an urgent and basic need," said Anies at City Hall, Friday, June 18.

According to Anies, weekends are holidays for the majority of people, except for the essential sector. Therefore, these two days can be used by residents to refrain from doing activities outside the home.

"We hope that the community is equally aware that we are currently still in a pandemic condition. Therefore, reduce activities outside the home, reduce activities that have the potential to interact so that they can be exposed,"

Shortly after asking Jakarta residents to stay at home on the weekends, Anies together with Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya held a tightening ceremony for the implementation of restrictions on micro-scale community activities (PPKM).
