JAKARTA – The testimony of Bharada Richard Eliezer or Bharada E became a bright spot for revealing the case of Brigadier J's death at the official residence of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo on July 8, 2022. Bharada E admitted that he was the first to shoot Brigadier J, then there were other perpetrators who also shot.

Bharada E did so not because he was defending himself from Brigadier J's attack as previously stated, but because of direct orders from his superiors on the scene. So, it is not true if there is a shootout. Brigadier J died from being shot, not from a shootout.

As for the holes in the walls and bullet projectiles from Brigadier J's HS-9 weapon found at the crime scene, they are only alibis to disguise the actual incident. The gun was taken when Brigadier J was dead and fired into several parts of the wall. It was also shot at Brigadier J's finger to give the impression that a shootout took place.

Bharada E's explanation was delivered by his lawyer, Muhammad Boerhanuddin and has been included in the Minutes of Investigation (BAP) to the investigators of the National Police Timsus.

“The perpetrators who shoot more than one, there is no shootout. After shooting, Bharada E left shortly after, not knowing what happened next to the deceased," said Boerhanuddin to reporters, Monday (8/8).

Boerhanuddin ensured that what happened was not due to harassment of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo's wife. However, Boerhanuddin did not want to detail the motive for the murder of Brigadier J. "What is certain is that this is purely premeditated murder."

Strict Steps of the National Police Chief

The Justice Collaborator from Bharada E was acknowledged by the National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as a marker for a new chapter in the disclosure of the case of Brigadier J.

"Brother RE (Bharada E) has submitted a JC (Justice Collaborator) and at that time that made this incident even brighter," said the National Police Chief at a press conference, Tuesday (9/8).

E's testimony is in accordance with the handling and inspection process that has been carried out by Timsus. Such as scientific examinations involving forensic medicine, deepening of CCTV and cellphones by Puslabfor, and biometric identification by Pusinafis.

Also, in accordance with the results of the TKP by involving the Puslabfor team to test ballistics to find out the influence of grooves and shots and other actions that are of course scientific in nature.

"We also found discrepancies in the investigations that we have carried out on the witnesses who were at the crime scene, including other related witnesses," he continued.

As a result, the National Police Chief also denied that a shootout occurred. Timsus found the fact that what actually happened was the shooting of Brigadier J to death. This was done by Bharada E on the orders of Inspector General Ferdy Sambo.

"Regarding whether Brother FS ordered or was directly involved in the shooting, the team is currently continuing to investigate the witnesses and related parties," added the National Police Chief.

"Then to make it look as if a gunfight took place, Brother FS shot Brother J's weapon against the wall several times to make the impression that a shootout had taken place," the National Police Chief continued.

On that basis, Timsus named Inspector General Ferdy Sambo as a suspect.

"This morning a case was held and the Timsus has decided to name Brother FS as a suspect," said the National Police Chief.

Threat of Death Penalty

The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Komjen Agus Andrianto, added that Inspector General Ferdy Sambo had the role of the person who ordered to carry out and make scenarios of events as if there was a shootout between Brigadier J and Bharada E.

Investigators apply Article 340 subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Articles 55 and 56 of the Criminal Code.

Likewise, the three other suspects, namely Bharada E, who shot the victim, and Bripka RR and KM, who assisted and witnessed the shooting of the victim, were subject to the same article.

"Based on their respective roles, investigators apply Article 340 subsidiary Article 338 in conjunction with Articles 55 and 56 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of death, life imprisonment, or a maximum imprisonment of 20 years," said Komjen Agus in the same place.

However, the National Police Chief has not been able to determine the motive or trigger for the shooting incident. "Currently, an examination and deepening of the witnesses is being carried out, including Ms. PC."

In addition to establishing FS as a suspect, the Timsus also examined 31 personnel for alleged violations of the Police's professional code of ethics, related to vandalism, removing evidence, as well as obscuring and fabricating efforts to reveal the case of Brigadier J. Timsus has also made special placements for 11 Polri personnel, consisting of 1 Inspector General, 2 Brigadier General, 2 Kombes, 3 AKBP, 2 Kompol, and 1 AKP.

"The possibility can still increase," said the National Police Chief.

The public continues to wait for confirmation from the National Police Chief. President Jokowi has also repeatedly ordered that the case of Brigadier J's death be thoroughly investigated.

"From the beginning I said, investigate thoroughly, don't hesitate, don't cover up anything. Reveal the truth as it is so as not to reduce public confidence in the Police. That's the most important. We still have to protect the image of the Police," said President Jokowi, quoted from the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Tuesday (9/8).
