Add 12 Cases, DIY Record Lowest Additional COVID-19 Cases Since Early 2021

YOGYAKARTA - The Yogyakarta Special Region Government (DIY) recorded a daily addition of 12 cases of positive COVID-19 cases. This figure is the lowest on record daily additions of cases since early 2021.

"There are 12 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Yogyakarta, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 155,576," said Spokesperson for the Yogyakarta Regional Government for Handling COVID-19, Berty Murtiningsih, quoted by Antara, Thursday, October 21.

When referring to the case history, said Berty, the 12 confirmed cases of COVID-19 consisted of eight patients who were contact tracing positive cases and four cases of self-examination.

Based on the area of domicile, the majority came from Bantul Regency which reached six cases, followed by Sleman Regency with five cases, Yogyakarta City with one case, while Kulon Progo Regency and Gunungkidul Regency, each with no new cases.

In addition to positive cases, Berty also recorded 36 additional recovered cases, bringing the total number of recovered COVID-19 cases in Yogyakarta to 149,875 cases.

Based on the area of domicile, the 36 recovered cases consisted of eight cases in Yogyakarta City, 14 cases in Bantul Regency, five cases in Gunungkidul, three cases in Kulon Progo, and six cases in Sleman Regency.

In addition, there was no additional number of deaths, so the total number of deaths in Yogyakarta remained at 5,236 cases.

Based on data from referral hospitals, the total cumulative suspected COVID-19 in Yogyakarta as of Thursday was 87,158 people, while the number of people being examined increased by 6,390, bringing the total to 1,058,977 people being examined.

The total number of special critical isolation beds available in DIY is 183 units, currently 32 units are used or a bed occupancy rate (BOR) of 17.48 percent, while the available non-critical beds of 1,463 have been used 126 units or a BOR rate of 8.61 percent.
