Governor Of Bali: Residents Positive For COVID-19 Symptoms Are Needing To Go To The Hospital

DENPASAR - Bali Governor Wayan Koster asked residents who were confirmed positive for COVID-19 with moderate and severe symptoms to immediately undergo treatment at a referral hospital, in order to avoid worsening conditions.

"I need to convey that many cases of death occurred because residents were late in doing PCR swab testing," said Koster in Denpasar, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, September 7.

In addition, cases of death due to COVID-19 also occurred because the patient was admitted to the hospital in a severe condition so that it was very dangerous for his life. It could not even be saved when undergoing treatment at the hospital.

As of today, the number of active cases or positive COVID-19 patients who are still being treated is 4,997 people.

Of that number, 1,216 people were treated in referral hospitals (24.33 percent), 1,664 people (33.30 percent) were in centralized isolation and 2,117 people (42.37 percent) underwent self-isolation.

On Tuesday, it was reported that there were 295 additional new cases, 392 recovered patients and 21 people who died due to COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the cumulative number of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Province of Bali until September 7, 2021 was 109,058 people, the cumulative number of recovered 100,407 people and the cumulative number who died from COVID-19 became 3,654 people.

"Meanwhile, for Balinese krama (citizens) who experience early symptoms such as fever, runny nose, cough, shortness of breath, loss of sense of smell and taste, they should immediately carry out PCR-based swab testing," said Koster.

Furthermore, those who are confirmed positive for COVID without symptoms and mild symptoms should immediately take the initiative to carry out centralized isolation which has been prepared by the Bali Provincial Government and Regency / City Government.

"It is forbidden to self-isolate at home so as not to infect the family," said the governor from Sembiran Village, Buleleng Regency.

Koster added, for residents who have close contact with residents who are confirmed positive, they should take the initiative and be willing to follow the "tracing" carried out by the TNI and Polri.

"We urge the Balinese to always obey and implement health protocols and apply a healthy and COVID-19-free lifestyle with the 6 M, namely wearing standard masks correctly, washing hands, keeping distance, reducing travel, increasing immunity, and obeying the rules," he said.
