Mendes Yandri Reports 73 Social Media Accounts Allegedly Spreading Hoaxes for Red and White Village Cooperatives

JAKARTA - Minister of Villages and Regional Development (Mendes PDT) Yandri Susanto reported 73 social media accounts that were suspected of spreading hoax videos to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Villages and Local Development Taufik Madjid said that the reported content was a deepfake artificial intelligence (AI) video that used Yandri Susanto's face and narrated that the warung would be closed after the Red and White Village Cooperative (KDKMP).

"The statement delivered by Mr. Yandri is very hoaxes and we report that with the existence of the Red and White Village Cooperative, the stalls and shops in the village will be closed. That is not true at all," he said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, August 13.

Taufik emphasized that the narrative was never conveyed by Yandri Susanto.

"The approach is IT, AI. So it's as if the voice that comes out in the content is Pak Yandri's voice. In fact, Pak Yandri has never issued a statement like that," he said.

On the other hand, he stated that with the KDKMP, warung, UMKM, and village-owned business entities (BUMD) will be revived together with cooperatives as the main instrument for economic growth.

Because the hoax content was disturbing, Yandri Susanto reported to the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police on July 29, 2026. Yandri's camp also visited the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police again on Thursday (13/8) to ask about the development of the report to the Cyber Crime Directorate (Dittipidsiber).

"He asked us to ask because it had been reported to Cyber, and we were very grateful to the Director of Cyber Crime and would process this with the applicable procedures and provisions as soon as possible," he said.

On the same occasion, the Mendes PDT Advisory Council Prof. Juanda said this report was related to the alleged false news, misleading, acts that were not in accordance with the rules, and defamation.

"This is none other than a personal matter for Mr. Yandri Susanto, not as a minister of village officials, yes. Well, of course, this will be later, friends from the National Police Headquarters investigators in Siber to trace, to investigate," he said.

He hopes that the perpetrators of the hoax spread can be revealed through the legal process carried out by the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police.
