Prabowo Suggests Destry as BI Governor, Aida as Senior Deputy Governor Candidate

JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto proposed Destry Damayanti as the sole candidate for Governor of the Bank of Indonesia. In the same letter, Prabowo also proposed Aida S. Budiman as a candidate for Senior Deputy Governor of the BI as well as two names for Deputy Governor of the BI.

Speaker of the House of Representatives Puan Maharani said the presidential letter had been received by the leadership of the House of Representatives through the Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi.

"Alhamdulillah yesterday Mr. Mensesneg has sent a letter to the leadership of the DPR, from the President conveyed by Mensesneg to the leadership of the DPR," said Puan at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday, August 12.

According to Puan, the letter proposed Destry as the BI Governor candidate and Aida as the BI Senior Deputy Governor candidate.

Meanwhile, the two names proposed as candidates for Deputy Governor of the BI are Solikin M. Juhro and M. Anwar Bashori.

"The letter proposes one name related to the candidate for Governor of Bank Indonesia, namely Mrs. Destry Damayanti, and one candidate for Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, namely Mrs. Aida S. Budiman," said Puan.

"Two names of candidates for Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia are Mr. Solikin M. Juhro and Mr. M. Anwar Bashori," he continued.

The DPR will begin processing the names after the opening of the session on August 14. The process includes a feasibility and suitability or fit and proper test.

"After that we will process the names according to the existing mechanism in the DPR. Next Sunday it will be processed immediately," said Puan.

After going through the process in the DPR, the name that is chosen and approved will be inaugurated by the President.

"We will process the names later according to the existing mechanism in the DPR for us to choose and we agree, to be inaugurated by the President," he said.
