JAKARTA - The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) on Sunday intercepted two general aviation aircraft that violated temporary flight restrictions, while President Donald Trump was attending a tournament at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey.
F-16 fighter jets escorted the two planes out of the prohibited airspace safely, NORAD said, according to Al Arabiya citing Reuters (10/8).
NORAD declined to comment on whether the pilots of the two planes made mistakes, saying it was the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) purview to determine that.
Pilots are required to check the latest information from the FAA regarding temporary airspace restrictions, NORAD said.
Meanwhile, the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident.
President Trump himself is scheduled to return to Washington from Bedminster on Sunday after attending the LIV Golf event.
