JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has decided that transportation management from mainland Jakarta to the Thousand Islands will be transferred to PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta). The plan is targeted to start running in 2027 after regulations and tariff schemes are prepared.

Pramono assessed that the management of transportation to the Thousand Islands, which has been under the DKI Jakarta Transportation Service, has not been efficient. Therefore, the DKI Provincial Government will prepare a new mechanism by handing over its management to Transjakarta.

"Based on that, I finally decided to manage transportation from mainland Jakarta, to the Thousand Islands, it will be managed by Transjakarta," said Pramono in North Jakarta, Monday, August 10.

According to him, the decision was made after seeing the performance of Transjakarta which was considered capable of managing public transportation services on a large scale in Jakarta.

"We see this as being very inefficient because of the experience in Jakarta itself, in the five existing urban areas, the performance of Transjakarta is now quite good, managing approximately 10,000 buses, even more," he said.

Pramono also touched on the increasing number of Transjakarta passengers as one of the government's considerations.

"Timeliness, then on the ground, and as we know, the increase in people using Transjakarta is also very high. This month alone, last month alone, it increased to 14.99 percent, this is the increase," he said.

"This shows that the people of Jakarta now give trust to Transjakarta," continued Pramono.

He explained that the mechanism for managing maritime transportation to the Thousand Islands is still being perfected. The DKI Provincial Government needs to prepare changes to regulations, including Regional Regulations (Perda), Governor's Regulations (Pergub), to tariff schemes.

"Later the mechanism is being perfected because it has to change the Regional Regulation, Regional Regulation, and later how much the tariff will be, for sure the tariff will be cheaper if it is managed professionally like what is being done now in Transjakarta," said Pramono.
