Horrible, a secret was stored in a school in South Jakarta

JAKARTA - In a corner of Pondok Pinang, Kebayoran Lama, the school corridors that are usually echoed by the laughter of students and the friendly shouts of teachers are suddenly filled with unusual anxiety. A place that should be the safest fortress for children to pursue their dreams, unknowingly has "stored" a dark secret behind one of its tightly locked doors.

It all started when the foundation intended to reuse a closed room to meet the needs of the students' facilities. However, instead of finding old learning equipment or archives, the open door actually revealed a terrible veil.

Forbidden Room Behind the Laughter of Students

Almost a thousand firearms - 995 units to be exact - along with ammunition, magazines, and bullet-making tools piled up there. Not stopping there, items that are not suitable for being in an educational environment such as drug packages (cannabis and methamphetamine) to dozens of porn VCD pieces are neatly stored.

"Why in a school that we respect very much, from kindergarten, elementary, middle school, to high school, there are people who secretly do activities like that there?" said Untung Sangaji, Staff Expert for the Chairman of the Foundation's Founder, with a trembling tone of disappointment and anger.

For Untung and other foundation managers, the discovery of the weapons - although some were airsoft guns with plain barrels that could be potentially lethal - was not just a common violation of the law. This is a real threat that has overshadowed the safety of hundreds of pairs of small feet that run around the school corridors every day.

Demand for Justice and the Stolen Safe Space

The fear that these dangerous objects could hurt students and teachers prompted the foundation to take firm steps. Accompanied by lawyer Hermawanto, they went to the South Jakarta Metro Police to ensure that this case was investigated to its fullest without being covered up.

"We want this case to be followed up immediately and seriously. This weapon can be misused and is very dangerous for anyone, especially if it is stored at a school," said Hermawanto.

The South Jakarta Metro Police itself has moved to issue a Model A Police Report to investigate who is behind the ownership of the "dark warehouse" in the school bench.

Now, the noisy activities of teaching and learning at Pondok Pinang may have resumed. However, this event left a deep message for everyone: that the safe space of children is a fatal price that must be guarded from irresponsible hands.
