MAKASSAR - North Kalimantan (Kaltara) Governor Zainal A. Paliwang offered a number of strategic investment opportunities to 14 ambassadors of friendly countries in the Business Matching Work Meeting and National Consultation (Rakerkonas) agenda of the Indonesian Business Association (Apindo) 2026 at the Claro Makassar Hotel, Tuesday (4/8).

During the forum, Zainal promoted investment potential in various sectors, including green energy, infrastructure, industrial downstream, marine, manufacturing, and agribusiness.

Zainal explained that Kaltara has a strategic position because it borders directly with Malaysia and the Philippines.

"As a developing province, this area also offers investment opportunities with a relatively low level of competition," said Zainal.

"Because Kaltara is a new province, there are no competitors in various sectors. When investors come in first and are serious, we from the local government are ready to fully assist in all matters," he continued.

Zainal revealed that in the energy sector, the North Kalimantan Provincial Government offered the development of the Mentarang HPP and the Kayan River HPP with a total capacity of around 9,000 megawatts which is projected to supply the electricity needs of the Indonesian Green Industrial Area (KIHI).

Meanwhile, in the infrastructure sector, investment opportunities offered include the construction of a Type B Hospital in Tanjung Selor and a toll road connecting Tanjung Selor to the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

"For the marine and manufacturing sectors, the government offers investment in the construction of seaweed processing plants in Tarakan and Nunukan, organic fisheries industrial areas, and a cooking oil plant with a capacity of 11,739 tons per year," he said.

In addition, in the agro-business sector, Kaltara promotes the development of cocoa and coffee commodities in Malinau Regency, as well as the flagship products of Garam Gunung Krayan and premium organic Adan Rice.

"Through this business matching forum, the North Kalimantan Provincial Government hopes to establish partnerships with global investors to accelerate development and encourage regional economic growth," he concluded.
