KPK Seizes Toyota Hi-Ace Used by Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro During OTT

The KPK has confiscated a Toyota Hi-Ace belonging to the non-active Regent of Pemalang Anom Widiyantoro

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized a black Toyota Hi-Ace unit belonging to the non-active Regent of Pemalang Anom Widiyantoro. The minibus is suspected to be related to the extortion case being investigated.

"This car was used by the regent during the series of events when he was caught," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo through a written statement to reporters, Wednesday, August 5.

Anom was known to have been caught in a silent operation at a hotel in Jakarta with a woman named Ambar.

The Toyota Hi-Ace will be placed at the KPK's House of Storage of Confiscated Items and State Seizures (Rupbasan).

"The car was seized from the suspect AWI as the Regent of Pemalang. The car was seized in Jakarta," said Budi.

As previously reported, the KPK named four people as suspects in alleged extortion after the hand-in-hand (OTT) operation in the Jakarta and Pemalang regions on Tuesday, July 28. They are Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro, Mohamad Haris as his trusted person, Setya Budi Dias as an administrative staff of the KPK from the Police, and Lilik Budi Suprianto who is a private citizen and also Dias' father.

The KPK said there were two extortion clusters in this case. First, Anom allegedly extorted his subordinates and private parties in the Pemalang Regency area, Central Java.

Meanwhile, the second cluster relates to alleged extortion in the management of cases at the KPK which is suspected to involve internal KPK officials.

Dias is suspected of leaking information on the handling of cases at the KPK to his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto, through a short message application.

Lilik then used the information to convince Anom that he had access to the development of the case because his son worked at the KPK. Furthermore, Anom, Lilik, and Gus Haris met three times in Magelang and Semarang.

During the meeting, Lilik asked for a case management fee of Rp2 billion. Haris, however, only handed over Rp1.2 billion, which was allegedly collected from extortion of a number of regional devices and private partners in Pemalang Regency.

As a result of their actions, Anom and Haris are suspected of violating Article 12 letter e and/or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes jo Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Law Code.

Meanwhile, Lilik and Dias are suspected of violating Article 12 letter e of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Corruption Crimes jo Article 20 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Law Code.
