Police Arrest Perpetrators of Robbery and Kidnapping of the Elderly in Cakung

JAKARTA - Police arrested the perpetrator of a robbery of an elderly woman (elderly) with the initials H (61) who was also detained while going to perform the dzuhur prayer at her house, in the Pisangan Village area, Penggilingan, Cakung, East Jakarta.

"Alhamdulillah, it didn't take three hours, the perpetrator of the violent theft was able to be secured at his house," said Cakung Police Chief Kompol Andre Tri Putra as reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, August 4.

The disclosure of the case began after the Cakung Police received a report of a robbery victim, a robbery with violence on Sunday (2/8) around 12.00 WIB.

At the time of the incident, the victim was preparing to perform the dzuhur prayer. The victim then heard someone entering his house. The victim had called the perpetrator because he thought the person was his son. However, the person who entered the victim's house was the perpetrator with the initials M.

The perpetrator then threatened the victim with a machete-type sharp weapon and asked not to scream. Then, the victim was also handcuffed by the perpetrator to cover the victim's mouth and face.

"The perpetrator then tied the victim's mouth, hands, and feet. The perpetrator even asked the victim to take the victim's valuables," said Andre.

Based on the victim's statement, some of the items carried by the perpetrator included cash of around Rp. 600 thousand, a pair of gold earrings weighing around one gram, and one Samsung A07 mobile phone.

After taking the goods, the perpetrator left the victim and fled. The victim who managed to break the tape immediately asked for help and reported the incident to the RT Chairman. The report was then followed up until the victim came to the Cakung Police.

"A quick response was carried out by Cakung Police personnel together with the Buser Team of the Criminal Investigation Unit. The team, led by the Criminal Investigation Officer AKP Muhammad Zein and controlled by the IPTU Control Officer Sukoco, immediately conducted an investigation and processed the crime scene," explained Andre.

The results of the investigation led to a man with the initials M who was known to be a resident of the area. Not until three hours after the incident, the police managed to arrest the perpetrator.

During the arrest, the police also secured a number of evidence, including one brown adhesive tape, one gold earring, one green orange Samsung A07 mobile phone, and cash Rp. 472 thousand.

The perpetrator and the evidence were then taken to the Cakung Police to undergo legal proceedings and further examination.

For his actions, the perpetrator is suspected of committing theft with violence as referred to in Article 479 of the Criminal Code of 2023 with a maximum penalty of nine years in prison.
