BMKG Weather Tuesday, August 4: Jakarta Clear Cloudy, Bandung and Medan Potential Rain

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather conditions in major cities in Indonesia will generally be cloudy to cloudy on Tuesday, August 4.

BMKG Praktirawan Sastia Fristia said that sunny cloudy to cloudy conditions were expected to dominate the weather in Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Padang, Jambi, Pangkal Pinang, Palembang, Bengkulu, and Jakarta.

Then, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Surabaya, Pontianak, Palangkaraya, Banjarmasin, Samarinda, Denpasar, Kupang, Makassar, Kendari, Palu, Gorontalo, Manado, Ternate, Sorong, Jayapura, and Merauke.

"Meanwhile, light rain is predicted to occur in Medan, Tanjung Pinang, Serang, Bandung, Tanjung Selor, Mamuju, Ambon, and Manokwari," said Sastia, quoted by Antara, Tuesday morning.

BMKG also predicts that hazy air has the potential to occur in Bandar Lampung and Mataram, while fog is predicted to appear in Nabire and Jayawijaya.

On the other hand, BMKG is monitoring Tropical Cyclone 94W in the northern Philippine Sea which is expected to weaken in the next few days.

In the next 24 hours, the system is predicted to have a maximum wind speed of 20-25 knots or about 37-46 kilometers per hour with a minimum pressure of 1,008 hectopascals and moving northwest to north.

In addition, the cyclonic circulation observed in the Indian Ocean west of Bengkulu forms a convergence and confluence area which can increase the growth of rain clouds around it.

According to BMKG, the combination of atmospheric dynamics still has the potential to trigger moderate to heavy rain in a number of areas.
