JAKARTA - The Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the Metro Jaya Police has dismantled a narcotics distribution network in the East Jakarta area by confiscating evidence in the form of 27.96 kilograms of marijuana and 2.69 grams of methamphetamine from a rented house.

Deputy Head of Sub-Directorate 2 of the Narcotics Division of the Metro Jaya Police, AKBP Triyatno Pamungkas, explained that the disclosure took place on Wednesday (22/7), had secured three suspects with initials D.H.P. (35), F.R. (32), and Y.P. (37) in four different locations in Jatinegara District, East Jakarta.

"The disclosure of this case originated from a public report, so our members conducted an investigation in the East Jakarta area and managed to arrest the three suspects along with the evidence," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Saturday, August 1.

Triyatno explained that the operation started from public information regarding the alleged transaction and the collection of packages of narcotics in the Jatinegara area.

"The initial investigation leads to the suspect D.H.P. who was secured in a house in the Cipinang Muara area," he said.

From D.H.P.'s statement, the police conducted an expansion to a rented house in the Cipinang area. At the location, officers arrested F.R. along with dozens of packages of marijuana stored in baskets and cardboard boxes.

"From the search at the rented house, we seized 24 packages of marijuana with a gross weight of 24.877 kilograms stored in a green basket, as well as three packages of marijuana with a gross weight of 3.079 kilograms in a cardboard box," said Triyatno.

In addition to marijuana, officers also seized several small packets of crystal methamphetamine with a total gross weight of 2.69 grams, a number of mobile phones used for transactions, and other supporting evidence.

"The results of intensive examination revealed that all the prohibited goods belonged to the suspect Y.P. The police moved quickly and managed to arrest Y.P. in a separate location," he explained.

Triyatno emphasized that his party would continue to be committed to eradicating the illicit circulation of narcotics in the legal jurisdiction of DKI Jakarta and its surroundings.

"Currently, the three suspects and all the evidence have been taken to the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters to undergo the investigation process and further develop the case," he said.
