US Intelligence Reveals China Stockpiled Data of 220 Million American Voters

JAKARTA - The United States Intelligence Community revealed that China had obtained data on 220 million American voters through various means, according to a fact sheet from the White House journalist group.

"The People's Republic of China and parties acting on their behalf have purchased, stolen, or hacked the voter registration data of as many as 220 million Americans. China's data collection includes data that is not publicly available," said a fact sheet confirmed by the leaders of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, the National Security Agency, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Department of Homeland Security.

As reported by ANTARA from Sputnik, Thursday, July 30, the document defines "election interference" as open or veiled influence by a foreign government with the aim of directly or indirectly influencing the US election.

The document also states that the US intelligence agency in 2022 had determined that a Chinese computer network exploitation perpetrator had allegedly obtained voter registration data available on an online trading platform.

"Opponents can manipulate data to prevent individual or group voters from casting a ballot. As such, it causes delays in voter arrival on election day or forces voters to use provisional ballots. Opponents can also leverage registration data, which in some cases is publicly available or can be purchased, to design other interference or influence efforts," according to the US Intelligence Community.

In early July, US President Donald Trump stated that China was suspected of having done everything to thwart his re-election in the 2020 election. Trump also accused US intelligence officials of deliberately hiding this information from the White House.

The Chinese Embassy in Washington, to RIA Novosti, stated that China has never and will never interfere in the US presidential election.
