Prabowo Increases TNI Allowance, Highest Position Reaches Rp48.6 Million

President Prabowo Subianto has increased the performance allowance (tukin) of soldiers of the Indonesian National Army (TNI) and employees of the Ministry of Defense (Kemhan) through two presidential regulations after about eight years without adjusting the amount of allowance.

The increase in performance allowances for soldiers and employees in the TNI environment was determined by President Prabowo through Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 42 of 2026 concerning Performance Allowances for Employees in the Indonesian National Army Environment.

Meanwhile, the increase in the salaries of employees of the Ministry of Defense was stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 43 of 2026 concerning Performance Allowance for Employees in the Ministry of Defense Environment.

The Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the Indonesian Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, explained that the Ministry of Defense had received copies of the two presidential decrees.

"Furthermore, the policy will be followed up in accordance with the applicable provisions," said RIco, quoted by Antara, Thursday, July 30.

Two presidential decrees signed by President Prabowo in Jakarta this month replaced the previous regulations, namely Presidential Decree Number 102 of 2018 and Presidential Decree Number 104 of 2018.

"Since 2018, the Ministry of Defense and the TNI have never received an adjustment to the performance allowance index. Meanwhile, the various tasks and responsibilities that are carried out continue to increase, both in maintaining state sovereignty and supporting government strategic programs ranging from disaster management, strengthening food security, development in remote areas, to securing vulnerable areas," said Rico.

Therefore, he believes that the adjustment of performance allowances is a form of appreciation that is in line with the results of the evaluation of government bureaucratic reform.

"From the Ministry of Defense, we welcome this policy as a form of appreciation from the government for the achievement of bureaucratic reform and improvement of the performance of the Ministry of Defense and the TNI," said Rico.

For the Ministry of Defense, Rico continued, the adjustment of the performance allowance amount is an incentive for all personnel to improve professionalism, accountability, and the quality of service to the nation and state.

In the two new regulations, the adjustment of the amount of tukin follows the class of position in the TNI and the Ministry of Defense. This means that the amount received follows the position structure of each employee/soldier.

In the annex to the presidential regulation which regulates the performance allowance for TNI soldiers, the amount of tukin for grade 1, which is generally filled by soldiers with the lowest rank, is set at Rp. 2.5 million.

If compared to the figure in the old rules, which is around Rp1.9 million, there is an increase of approximately Rp600,000.

Then, in the new rules, the range of tukin for grade 2 to grade 8, namely Rp2,931,100 to Rp5,472,100.

Continuing to the 9th grade to the 11th grade, the tukin received Rp6,276,600 to Rp9,852,300.

For those who are in the 12 to 14 grade of position, the range of performance allowance received is Rp. 11,133,000 to Rp. 19,485,000. Then, the employees/soldiers whose rank falls into the category of the 15 grade of position, they receive a bonus of Rp. 21,690,000, and for the 16 grade of position Rp. 30,058,800, and the 17 grade of position Rp. 37,395,000.

On top of that, there are a number of 3-star positions such as the Chief of Staff (Kasum) of the TNI, and the deputy chief of staff of the armed forces, whose amount is Rp. 44,874,000.

Finally, for the highest class of position, namely those who hold the position of star 4 such as the chief of staff of the armed forces, the amount of tukin received is Rp. 48,613,500.
