Despite the Drought, BMKG Forecasts Heavy Rain Still Flooding Several Areas Today

JAKARTA - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reminds the public to be aware of the potential for rain and strong winds that are still likely to occur in a number of regions of Indonesia even though most areas have entered the dry season.

Based on the BMKG weather forecast for Tuesday, July 28, moderate to heavy rain is still potentially raining in a number of areas, namely Aceh, North Sumatra, West Sumatra, East Java, Bali, Central Kalimantan, East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, South Kalimantan, West Sulawesi, Maluku, Central Papua, and Papua.

Meanwhile, South Sulawesi is the only region that is on standby status because it has the potential to experience heavy to very heavy rain.

BMKG reminded that these conditions have the potential to cause various impacts, such as waterlogging, local flooding, and disruption of community activities in the affected areas.

However, BMKG ensures that there is no area that falls into the alert category or has the potential to experience very heavy to extreme rain in this forecast period.

In addition to rain, BMKG also urges the public to be aware of the potential for strong winds that can affect activities, especially in open areas, coastal areas, and waters.

The areas that are predicted to have strong winds include Banten, West Java, East Java, Riau Islands, Maluku, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, West Sulawesi, South Sulawesi, and North Sulawesi.

BMKG urges the public to continue to monitor the latest weather information and increase vigilance against the potential for fallen trees, high waves, and travel disruptions that can be triggered by bad weather.
