JAKARTA - Deputy Minister of Religion (Wamenag) Romo Muhammad Syafii emphasized that the Ministry of Religion continues to strengthen the child protection system in the educational environment through the child-friendly madrasah program. The commitment was conveyed by Romo when attending the National Children's Day commemoration at MTsN 41 Al Azhar Asy Syarif, Jakarta. Romo assessed that a healthy learning atmosphere could be seen from the condition of the students at school. He admitted that he saw the students studying with full cheerfulness without showing any pressure during the learning process.
"I also saw the seriousness of the teachers, and just now I felt the warmth of the children. It is impossible for children to be as happy as this if the learning atmosphere has things that make them depressed," said Romo, Thursday, July 23.
He also quoted President Prabowo Subianto's message emphasizing the importance of child care and education patterns as a determinant of the nation's future.
"Mr. Prabowo said, we want to imagine what Indonesia will be like in the future, the answer is how we nurture, educate, and love our children today," he said.
To strengthen child protection in madrasah and pesantren environments, the Ministry of Religion has established a mechanism for handling reports of alleged violence. In addition to preparing regulations and task forces, the Ministry of Religion also collaborates with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) to ensure that victims and witnesses receive protection during the case handling process.
"We have launched a child-friendly madrasah and ponpes in Al-Hamidiyah, Depok, with an application that makes it easier for children to report. Then we are ready to follow up with cross-ministries and agencies," said Romo.
Meanwhile, the Head of MTsN 41 Al Azhar Asy Syarif Faizah said his school had implemented the concept of a child-friendly madrasah through the Fun School Movement. This concept is applied so that students feel safe and comfortable during the learning process.
"At MTs 41 we have organized a child-friendly madrasah. Children are taught by fun teachers and the classroom atmosphere is also designed to reflect a fun madrasah for our children," said Faizah.
