5 Palembang DPRD Members Investigated for Corruption Case of Street Lights

PALEMBANG - The Palembang District Attorney's Office (Kejari), South Sumatra, examined five members of the Palembang City DPRD as witnesses in the investigation of the alleged corruption case of maintenance activities for street lights of the Transportation Service which was sourced from the 2025 Amendment APBD.

Head of the Palembang Regional Attorney's Office Intelligence Section, Mochamad Ali Rizza in Palembang, Wednesday, said the examination of the five legislators was carried out separately for two days, namely two people on Tuesday (21/7) and three people on Wednesday (22/7).

"Each witness was questioned with about 30 questions by the investigation team regarding the implementation of the street light maintenance project," said Ali Rizza as reported by ANTARA.

He explained that so far the Palembang District Attorney's Office has examined as many as 68 witnesses.

"Until now, the Palembang District Attorney's Office has examined as many as 68 witnesses," he said.

The witnesses who were asked for information included the former Head of the Palembang City Transportation Office, the camat, lurah, to the DPRD members.

Although it has examined dozens of witnesses from various elements, the Palembang District Attorney's Office has not named a suspect in the case.

The investigation team is still continuing to investigate all witness statements to uncover indications of budget irregularities for maintaining street lights in the capital of the South Sumatra province.
