Soybean Contribution 0.35 Percent, the Indonesian Navy Opens 3.110 Acres of New Land

MALANG - Soybean assistance by the Indonesian Navy produced 3,676 tons in 2026. This amount contributes 0.35 percent to the national soybean production target this year.

TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto said the production came from an area of 2,432 hectares spread across six areas.

The TNI Commander delivered the report to President Prabowo Subianto during the Simultaneous Harvest with the TNI in Malang, East Java, Friday, July 17.

To increase production, the Indonesian Navy opened a new land of 3,110 hectares until June 2026. The land consists of assets owned by the Indonesian Navy and land built by the TNI Navy regional command in seven regions.

Production from the new land is estimated to reach 5,287 tons of soybeans.

"This effort will strengthen food independence and reduce import dependence," said the TNI Commander.

The TNI divides the task of food assistance based on the matra. The Navy handles soybeans, the Air Force focuses on sugar cane, while the Army supports rice production.

The TNI Commander said the program involved the government, SOEs, private companies, academics, and the community.

He asked for the President's direction that land opening and production assistance continue to run in accordance with government policy.
