JAKARTA - Welcoming the start of the 2026-2027 New Academic Year, Subholding PTPN IV PalmCo has again realized the distribution of assistance in the education sector.

This Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program targets a number of schools spread across the Company's operational areas, namely Sumatra to Kalimantan, to support the smooth running of learning activities.

Until the first semester or the period from January to June 2026, PalmCo has recorded at least Rp1.3 billion in aid distribution. The budget was allocated for dozens of aid objects divided into several physical and non-physical programs.

The assistance provided includes the construction and repair of classrooms, toilets, fences, dormitories, and school buildings. In addition to infrastructure improvements, the company also procured supporting facilities such as school laptops and mobiles (tables and chairs), repairs to the existing mosque in the school environment, and the distribution of education scholarships for students.

Most recently, the distribution of scholarships was carried out in Nagori Bah Jambi, Jawa Maraja Bah Jambi District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra, on Friday, July 3. This assistance was handed over to 44 students from 11 schools under the auspices of the PTPN IV Education Foundation. Each school sends four representative students who are selected based on academic achievement evaluation and family economic conditions.

The President Director of PTPN IV PalmCo, Jatmiko K. Santosa, said the company's participation in the education sector was a direct form of intervention to help teaching and learning activities, especially in remote areas of plantation operations.

"Throughout 2025, PalmCo has realized education assistance of up to IDR 12.73 billion. The distribution in the new school year is a continuation of the program. We strive for learning facilities, both infrastructure and other supporting facilities, to be adequate for students and teachers," said Jatmiko, Wednesday, July 15.

The realization of the distribution of this assistance is claimed to help cover a number of deficiencies in facilities that have been faced by the school.

Head of SDN 158 Muaro Jambi Regency, Panal Marbun, said that the mobile assistance from the company answered the obstacles that his school had experienced for years. He said, since 2021, the school has reported the condition of the students' desks and chairs that were destroyed to the local education service. However, the limited budget of the local government made it impossible to replace the facility.

"Thank you PTPN IV for this attention and assistance. This desk chair is very important for teachers and students at SDN 158. This is what we need all this time because many of the existing tables and chairs are no longer suitable. Children will be more comfortable and calm in the learning process with this decent desk and chair," said Panal Marbun.

A similar statement was also made by the Head of SMPN 2 Tanjung Medan, Rokan Hilir Regency, Mutiara. In his area, the constraints on the availability of hardware and networks are often the main obstacles for teachers in accessing and providing learning materials optimally.

"We are very helped. With the availability of computers and internet access, learning activities become more smooth and reference materials can be easily accessed by teachers and students," he said.
