JAKARTA - Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Habiburokhman, said his party would form a supervisory team to ensure that the handling of corruption cases continues after Febrie Adriansyah resigned from the position of Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus).
"Commission III of the DPR RI is fully committed to overseeing the handling of this case until it is completed and legally certain by forming a Supervisory Team," said Habiburokhman in a written statement received in Jakarta, Saturday.
According to him, Febrie's resignation should not hinder the law enforcement process for corruption cases that are being handled.
He assessed that the momentum should be used by law enforcement officials to complete the investigation professionally and transparently.
Habiburokhman also asked the Attorney General's Office and the National Police to continue to work independently without intervention even though there were allegations of involvement of individuals in the case being investigated.
"This alleged corruption incident involves individuals or individuals, not policies or representations from institutions. Therefore, there should be no confrontation or ego conflict between sectors," he said.
According to him, Commission III will optimize the oversight function so that coordination between the Attorney General's Office and the National Police remains maintained during the handling of the case.
"The country needs the cohesiveness of its law enforcement officers to move forward. We in Commission III will continue to ensure that the oversight function runs optimally so that inter-agency cooperation remains solid and runs on the right track," he said.
Previously, Attorney General Sanitiar Burhanuddin received a resignation letter from Febrie Adriansyah from the position of Jampidsus.
Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, said the resignation was a form of commitment to maintain the integrity, objectivity, and neutrality of law enforcement and related to legal proceedings being handled by the National Police investigators.
Anang emphasized that the Attorney General's Office respected the decision and ensured that all tasks and handling of cases in the Jampidsus environment continued to run according to the applicable mechanism.
Previously, Febrie Adriansyah explained the findings of cash and gold bars in a search of a house in the Sentul area, Bogor Regency, West Java, which was carried out by a joint team of the National Police's Corruption Eradication Task Force (Kortastipidkor) and the Metro Jaya Police.
In a press conference at the Jampidsus Building, Jakarta, Friday (10/7), Febrie admitted that the house that was searched was his personal residence.
"Regarding the Sentul house, it is indeed a private house of Jampidsus which has been for a long time. You can see how the ownership process has been from the beginning," he said.
Meanwhile, the Polda Metro Jaya stated that investigators have not yet named a suspect in the investigation of alleged corruption, bribery, gratification, and money laundering (TPPU) crimes handled jointly with the Polri Kortastipidkor.
During the search on Thursday (9/7), investigators seized 74 kilograms of gold bars, cash Rp100 million, and foreign exchange consisting of 4,767,300 US dollars and 14,083,800 Singapore dollars.
In addition, investigators also secured a number of documents, mobile phones, and other evidence for the purposes of investigation.
The search was part of a joint investigation related to alleged corruption in coal management, alleged corruption in PT Asabri and PT Jiwasraya for the period 2020-2025, and alleged money laundering in settling PT CBS's debt to PT KNI.
