Prabowo to Officials and Apparatus: Your Star is from the People, Don't Forget

Lombok - President Prabowo Subianto reminded state officials, bureaucrats, TNI-Polri officials, to the prosecutor's office not to forget their source of power. He emphasized that the position, rank, and facilities of the state come from the people.

Prabowo conveyed this message when inaugurating a dam in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Friday, July 10.

Prabowo asked officials to introspect. He said that state apparatus should not feel superior to the people, let alone use their positions to harass the community.

"I ask for introspection, especially our bureaucrats, we all introspect. Military and police officials, introspection," said Prabowo.

He then delivered a stern message to state officials.

"Your brothers belong to the people. Your star is from the people. Your shirt is from the people. Your cap is from the people. Never forget that," he said.

Prabowo also touched on the prosecutor's office. He said that law enforcement agencies also bear the same responsibility to the people.

"Kejaksaan, you wear stars too, you. You also belong to the people," said Prabowo.

In his speech, Prabowo repeatedly associated power with the responsibility to serve the public. He asked regional leaders in NTB to run the government wisely and use common sense.

"Manage your people. Use common sense policies," he said.

Prabowo also reminded leaders to stay away from the intention to enrich themselves over the suffering of small people.

"Avoid the intention to get rich at the expense of the small people. Stay away from that kind of thinking. That is the most evil sin," he said.

According to Prabowo, leaders are elected to serve the people, not to make people's lives more difficult. He also asked government officials to correct themselves and not fight against the public will.

"I don't want to look back, but I beg you, improve yourself. Be yourself. Don't fight against the people," said Prabowo.

He emphasized that the people did not want corruption and fraud to be allowed. Therefore, the law must be enforced for all parties, not just sharp to the weak group.

"We will enforce the law. And the law is for everyone. Not just for the strong," he said.

Prabowo said that the mandate he received from the people would be used to pursue prosperity and close state leaks.

"Indonesia cannot prosper if corruption is still rampant. Indonesia cannot prosper if there are many leaks," said Prabowo.
