SAMARINDA - The East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office has seized cash of around Rp. 699 billion from the alleged case of corruption in the use of transmigration land for mining activities.

"Until the prosecution stage, we received a deposit of state recovery losses of IDR 699,704,988,362," said Assistant Special Criminal Prosecutor for the East Kalimantan High Prosecutor's Office, Gusti Hamdani, in Samarinda, Wednesday, July 8, reported by ANTARA.

This alleged corruption case involves four former heads of the Kutai Kartanegara Regency Mining and Energy Office at different ranges, namely HM, BH, HA, and AD.

Apart from bureaucrats, the case also dragged three private company leaders from the PT JMB Group entity, namely BT, GT, and DA.

"The illegal implementation of coal mining on transmigration land rights in Kutai Kartanegara Regency has taken place since 2007 to 2012," said Hamdani.

Based on the audit report of the calculation from the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), all illegal mining activities have resulted in state losses reaching Rp. 6.858 trillion.

The confiscated money of hundreds of billions was handed over to the suspects BT and GT since the investigation period to the stage of legal transfer.

The seven defendants were charged with the primary charge using Article 603 Jo Article 20 letter C of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
