Singapore PM invites Garuda School students to carry out student exchange

Jakarta - Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong invited Garuda School students to participate in a student exchange program to Singapore.

According to him, this step is part of an effort to strengthen people-to-people relations between the two countries. President Wong conveyed this when making a joint press statement after holding a Leaders' Retreat with President Prabowo Subianto at the Merdeka Palace, Monday, July 6.

President Wong said the student exchange program was one of the effective ways to strengthen friendship and strengthen mutual understanding between the two countries.

He added that the program had actually been running. As one example, a number of universities in Singapore have received visits from Taruna Nusantara high school students from Central Java in April. In return, students from Singapore are scheduled to visit Indonesia next month.

However, President Wong said Singapore wants to expand the student exchange program with Garuda School so that the younger generation of the two countries can learn from each other and build understanding from an early age.

According to him, strengthening the relationship between young generations is an important foundation in maintaining the strategic partnership between Indonesia and Singapore in the future.
