BOGOR - Amid claims of increasing public confidence in the National Police, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo admitted that the institution he leads is not yet perfect. Therefore, criticism from the public is said to be an important part of improving police services.

The statement was made by the National Police Chief when he reported to President Prabowo Subianto during the 80th Anniversary of Bhayangkara at the Satlat Brimob Cikeas, Bogor, Wednesday (1/7).

"Every criticism we see as a mirror to improve, every input we receive as an incentive to change, and every hope of the community we interpret as a trust to strengthen our dharma of devotion," said the National Police Chief.

The statement was made after the National Police Chief explained a number of indicators of the performance of the National Police during 2026.

Based on The Global Safety Report 2025 published by Gallup, as many as 83 percent of Indonesian people admit that they feel safe walking alone at night.

Meanwhile, the Litbang Kompas survey released in June 2026 showed that public confidence in the National Police increased from 76.2 percent to 80.6 percent. As many as 82.4 percent of respondents also believed that the performance of the National Police would get better in the future.

According to the National Police Chief, this achievement is an incentive for the National Police to continue to improve the quality of services to the community.

He also expressed his appreciation to the President, Vice President, DPR, ministries, institutions, and all elements of society who supported the birth of Law Number 5 of 2026 concerning the National Police as the basis for institutional strengthening after the previous regulation was in force for more than two decades.

The National Police Chief emphasized that the transformation of the National Police could not be done alone. Change, he said, requires the support of all components of the nation so that the police institution is able to respond to security challenges while escorting development towards the Golden Indonesia 2045.
