KPK Refines Allegations of Fees to Ex-Minister of Transportation Budi Karya through the Investigation of Harno Trimadi

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is investigating allegations of fee flows for railway line procurement projects in the environment of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation to the former Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi. The process is carried out in the investigation with the suspect Harno Trimadi as the former Director of Railway Infrastructure DJKA Ministry of Transportation.

Harno is known to have been re-designated as a suspect in the case of bribery in the procurement of railway lines in the DJKA Ministry of Transportation region of East Java.

"There is a collection that is carried out at DJKA, then distributed there, through intermediaries, and so on," said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters at the KPK Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, quoted Friday, June 26.

The anti-corruption commission has also examined the former Director of Traffic at the Ministry of Transportation's Railway Directorate General for 2019-2021 Danto Restyawan as a witness on Thursday, June 25. Budi said investigators also traced the practice of conditioning projects in various regions.

"So this project is in a number of points, yes, in Sulawesi, in Java, in Surabaya, Solo, Jogja, Semarang is also there, West Java, then in Trans Sumatra from South Sumatra even to Medan. This is indeed a lot of project points, in several railway lines and also the construction of other supporting infrastructure in the context of railway tracks in Indonesia," said Budi.

"Then from these projects, at the beginning there was indeed an allegation of conditioning yes to win certain parties, which then from the conditioning there was a collection of project fees, project fees from private parties to DJKA parties, the Ministry of Transportation, and also the one who was on the side of the DPR there was also one who was suspected of then receiving fees from the private party," he continued.

Meanwhile, when asked about the possibility of summoning Budi Karya, Budi said, of course, the opportunity was open. According to him, the examination could be to confirm the findings of investigators.

"Of course, this is also needed for the summoning of the person concerned (Budi Karya Sumadi) to confirm some findings in a number of projects. Because this project is in several places under the scope of the Ministry of Transportation, so later it will also require information from top management," said Budi.

As previously reported, the KPK has confiscated the money that was returned by former expert staff Budi Karya Sumadi when he served as Minister of Transportation (Menhub), Robby Kurniawan. This forced effort was carried out after he underwent an examination on Monday, May 18.

From this return, the anti-corruption commission will investigate where the money is flowing. Including, there is a suspicion that the money flows to Budi Karya Sumadi who serves as the Minister of Transportation.
