JAKARTA - A Transjakarta bus had a single accident by hitting a road divider (separator) near Cikoko Stop, South Jakarta, Monday morning. The incident had triggered traffic congestion around the location.

Based on information circulating, the front right side of the bus was quite damaged due to the collision. A number of concrete blocks of separators were also seen destroyed and shifted from their original position.

There was a traffic jam on the regular lane which is next to the busway corridor. A number of police officers and security personnel were deployed to secure the location and disperse the vehicle density.

Head of the Public Relations and CSR Department of Transjakarta, Ayu Wardhani, said the bus involved in the accident was an MYS operator fleet with body number 19216.

"Transjakarta apologizes for the single accident of the MYS operator bus (body number 19216) in Cikoko direction Pluit, Monday morning, which had triggered traffic congestion," said Ayu in his statement, Monday, June 22.

Ayu ensured that no customers were inside the fleet when the accident occurred because the bus was on its way to the starting point of operations.

Transjakarta also ensured that the process of evacuating vehicles had been completed so that services could return to normal.

"Evacuation has been completed since 08.20 and services at Cikoko and Tebet Eco Park have returned to normal operations to serve customers," said Ayu.

Until now, the cause of the accident is still being investigated. Transjakarta handed over the handling process to the authorities while conducting an internal investigation.
