JAKARTA - Purnawidya Day is not the end of the education process, but the beginning of the next struggle, said the Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir.
This was conveyed by Ambassador Kartini in the SIT Purnawidya of the 2025/2026 School Year of the Indonesian School in Tokyo (SIT), which coincided with the 64th anniversary of SIT held at the Indonesian Hall, SIT Complex, Wednesday (17/6).
In this activity which carries the theme "The Horizon of Science, the Path to the World", as many as 47 students from the Taman Kanak-Kanak (TK) to the Senior High School (SMA) were declared to have passed the SIT.
In his remarks, Ambassador Kartini congratulated the scholarship recipients who had undergone the learning process at SIT. He also appreciated the teachers and all the academic community of SIT, including the School Committee and parents of students who had contributed to academic activities at SIT.
"Purnawidya Day is a moment to be grateful for the long journey that has been taken. Make the opportunity for education at the previous level a valuable life experience. This Purnawidya event is not the end of the education process. "My appreciation to all education personnel at SIT. Teachers, employees, and all academic community of SIT are a system that is very important in determining the success of students. To all parents, including the administrators and members of the School Committee and Class Coordinator, I convey my respect for the support of personnel, thoughts, and costs that have been provided to ensure the success of learning activities," he explained, accompanied by the Coordinator of the Social and Cultural Information Function of the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo Muhammad Al Aula; Education Attaché Amzul Rifin who is also acting. Head of the Indonesian School in Tokyo; and, the Chairman of the School Committee, Merry Astrid Indriasari.
"Especially for the scholarship students who will continue to higher education, congratulations on living a new life that will test maturity and responsibility. Life at university will be entirely in the hands of all of you. Parents will only be able to support from afar. For that, take care of this responsibility and trust," added Ambassador Kartini.
Of the total 47 scholarship students, the details are eight students from TK; seven students from elementary school; 14 students from junior high school; and, 18 students from high school.
Education Attaché/SIT Amzul Rifin explained that the number of students at SIT continued to increase from year to year.
From 165 students in the previous school year, the number increased to 174 students at the beginning of the 2025/2026 school year. And reached 187 students in May 2026. This increase, according to Amzul, shows the public's growing confidence in the school.
"Throughout this school year, SIT continues to strive to adjust various academic and non-academic practices with policies from the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Indonesia. In the field of leadership development, the school carries out the regeneration of student organizations and bell officers not only at the high school level, but also at the junior high school level, so that the opportunity to learn to lead can be obtained early. In addition, the school has formed a School Environment Violence Prevention and Management Team (TPPK) which involves teachers and students so that a safe learning environment can be created," he explained.
"In the academic field, the results of the Academic Ability Test for SD, SMP, and SMA students are above the national average and the average of Indonesian Schools Abroad. Thank you to all parents, school committees, school partners, teachers, education staff, and of course the Indonesian Embassy in Tokyo who have supported the implementation of education at SIT," continued Amzul.
He added, in the field of scholastic and achievement, SIT students showed a proud achievement. Among them, in the National Science Olympics, one of the students managed to become a semifinalist in the field of Astronomy.
Meanwhile, at the international and local Japanese levels, students also made achievements, including the Meguro English Speech Contest with the Best Delivery award.
Also included in the competition between Indonesian Schools Abroad, SIT managed to win various awards and placed itself in the top three in several competition branches, including creating short stories, mathematics olympics, and robotics.
Separately, the Chairman of the School Committee, Merry Astrid Indriasari, in his remarks said he hoped that students could grow into an innovative and creative generation and always maintain a sporting attitude and have good character to appreciate the process, respect differences as a preparation to achieve achievements.
