Minister of Basic and Secondary Education Abdul Mu'ti said the target was conveyed directly to President Prabowo Subianto in a meeting at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, June 11.
According to Mu’ti, the revitalization of schools in 2025 has been completed 100 percent for 16,167 educational units throughout Indonesia.
"This year, with the budget that has been approved by the DPR of Rp. 14 trillion, we allocate it for 11,744 educational units," said Mu'ti.
He said there would be an additional 60,000 educational units. With this addition, the total number of schools revitalized this year will be 71,744.
Mu’ti said that the revitalization of 2026 had begun. From the allocation of 11,744 schools, about 70 percent had begun to be worked on.
Several schools are targeted to be completed in July and August so that they can be used at the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year.
According to Mu’ti, this program is felt strongly by the community, especially in the lagging, leading, and outermost areas or 3T.
He said many schools had not received building updates for decades.
"Although according to the law, the responsibility for development belongs to the local government, because of the commitment of the President, we revitalized the schools, both public and private," he said.
