JAKARTA - PLN Distribution Parent Unit (UID) Greater Jakarta through PLN Customer Service Implementation Unit (UP3) Bintaro continues to remind the public to be careful of various fraudulent schemes in the name of PLN. One of the most common is the offer of instant electricity savings, cheap electricity tokens, to meter modification services which are claimed to be able to reduce customer electricity bills.
The modus operandi is generally carried out by individuals who claim to be PLN officers and offer services outside the official procedure. Not a few customers are tempted because they are promised cheaper electricity costs, although this action risks causing installation disruptions, endangering the safety of residents, and potentially being found in the Electricity Use Regulation (P2TL) activities.
General Manager of PLN UID Jakarta Raya, Moch. Andy Adchaminoerdin, reminded the public to always be careful of various fraudulent schemes in the name of PLN. According to him, customer vigilance is the key to preventing losses while maintaining safety in the use of electricity.
"Using electricity safely, legally, and according to regulations is a shared responsibility. We invite the public to always maintain electrical installations and ensure that all services are carried out by official PLN officers. With mutual vigilance, we can prevent fraudulent practices while maintaining the reliability and safety of the electricity sector," said Andy Adcha.
One of the modes that needs to be aware of is the person who claims to be a PLN officer but cannot show official identity. The perpetrator usually offers electricity tokens or pulses at a price far below the provisions, sticking a sticker of suspicious kWh numbers on the customer meter, to offering meter modification services, electricity savings, or unofficial power changes. In his action, the person often urges customers to immediately make payments, even asking for a transfer to a personal account or cash payment without proof of official transactions. The public is urged not to be tempted by offers that promise instant electricity cost savings because they have the potential to harm customers and violate applicable provisions.
PLN UP3 Bintaro Manager, Hendar Prisnadianta Y., emphasized that PLN never carried out electricity service transactions carelessly or through parties that do not have official identities.
"We appeal to the public not to be easily tempted by cheap electricity offers. If there are parties who claim to be PLN officers and offer electricity tokens outside the official channel, customers need to be alert. Make sure all electricity services and transactions are only carried out through the official PLN channel, especially the PLN Mobile application," said Hendar.
