JAKARTA - The West Aceh Regency Education Office stated that as many as 50 students from Alue Lhok Elementary School (SDN), Pante Ceureumen District, are still studying in emergency tents after the flood disaster that occurred at the end of November 2025.
"For the time being, the students are forced to study in emergency tents, because most of their school buildings were damaged by the flash floods late last year," said Acting Head of the West Aceh Regency Education Office (Disdik) Teuku Putra Azmisyah, quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, June 9.
He said that until now, students have been forced to study in emergency tents, because they have no other choice to be able to study, because the existing schools cannot be used at all.
Even though they had to study in an emergency tent, he said, the students were still comfortable following the learning process, including taking exams, which had been completed on Monday (8/6).
Teuku Putra Azmisyah said that so far, students at the natural disaster location have been taught by teachers who have been residing in the local village or are not far from the school location, so that they do not experience any significant obstacles in the learning process.
As a long-term solution, the West Aceh Regency Education Office has also reported the damage to the school building into the disaster impact reporting system and it is hoped that the school building in the area can be built this year.
"The information we received, SDN Alue Lhok, Pante Ceureumen District, which was damaged, will be built this year by the central government. We just pray that everything goes smoothly," said Teuku Putra Azmisyah.
