JAKARTA - The act of stealing a motorcycle in the Kramat Jati area, East Jakarta, ended up being gripping after the perpetrator pointed a gun at the vehicle owner who caught his act.

The incident occurred on Jalan Balai Rakyat, Kramat Jati District, on Sunday (31/5) afternoon. The victim named Riska (32) admitted that he was threatened with a gun while trying to thwart the theft of his motorcycle.

"There were two people. When I saw the motorcycle was going to be taken, I shouted for help. But the perpetrator immediately took out a pistol and pointed it at me," said Riska, Tuesday.

Based on surveillance camera (CCTV) footage, two perpetrators came riding a motorcycle. The two had observed the situation around before acting.

After ensuring that the surrounding conditions were quiet, one of the perpetrators approached the victim's motorcycle parked in the yard. The perpetrator then broke the ignition lock and tried to steal the vehicle.

The theft was discovered by the victim who was inside the house. Realizing that his motorcycle was about to be stolen, Riska immediately shouted for help from residents.

However, one of the perpetrators actually took out a firearm and aimed it at the victim. Feeling threatened, the victim chose to go back inside the house to save himself.

"I was afraid because the perpetrator immediately pointed a gun at me," he said.

Although it did not cause any injuries, the perpetrator managed to steal one motorcycle belonging to the victim.

The case has been reported to the Kramat Jati Police. The victim hopes that the police will immediately identify and arrest the perpetrator who was acting using a helmet, mask, and jacket so that his face is not clearly visible.

"I have made a report. The important thing is that no one was injured, but I hope the perpetrator will be arrested soon," said Riska.

The victim also asked for an increase in security patrols in the residential area because the case of motor vehicle theft was said to have occurred several times in the area.
