Saudi Arabia Claims Hajj Season 1447 H Runs Successfully Without Disease Outbreak

JAKARTA - The Saudi Ministry of Health stated that the provision of health services during the 1447 Hijriah Hajj season was successful with no outbreaks of disease or public health threats among pilgrims.

As of 12 Zulhijah, local health authorities have provided more than 2.5 million health services to pilgrims coming from various countries.

Based on ministry data, as many as 114,889 pilgrims received services at health centers and emergency treatment facilities. Meanwhile, the emergency unit handled 58,462 cases and outpatient clinics served 29,846 patients.

In addition to basic services, as many as 8,342 patients underwent treatment at the hospital during the Hajj season. Medical teams also performed 410 surgical procedures, including 323 cardiac catheterization procedures and 33 open heart surgeries.

The Saudi Ministry of Health has also strengthened preventive and health education measures. It is recorded that more than 292,585 preventive services have been provided to pilgrims to minimize the risk of health disorders during the performance of worship.

On the other hand, the 937 integrated service center received more than one million calls. The service provides medical assistance and health consultations 24 hours a day in seven languages to facilitate communication with international pilgrims.

The implementation of the 1447 H Hajj was also marked by the wider use of modern health technology. Saudi Arabia uses artificial intelligence (AI) technology to speed up the distribution of essential medicines and medical equipment to various locations.

In addition, medical personnel utilize medical robotics in assisting the implementation of a number of complex procedures, while smart watches are used to monitor the health conditions and vital signs of high-risk pilgrims in real time from a distance.

The use of this technology is part of Saudi Arabia's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of health services for millions of pilgrims and provide a faster, more efficient, and responsive service system during the season of worship.
