JAKARTA - The West Jakarta City Government (Pemkot Jakbar) conducted a trial of the "Eco Lindi" liquid to neutralize the smell of garbage in two Waste Disposal Sites (TPS) in the Tambora District, Sunday, May 31.

The Mayor of West Jakarta, Iin Mutmainnah, stated that the implementation of this innovation is expected to be an effective solution in overcoming the problem of odor and waste management in his area.

"Eco Lindi is one of the solutions to solve the problem of odor. We will see in a few days, of course this will be a significant change, especially regarding the problem of odor and how we can manage waste from the source more effectively," said Iin in Jakarta, quoted by Antara.

Eco Lindi is an environmentally friendly liquid odor neutralizer made from fermentation of lindi water (waste water from landfills), molasses (sugar cane water), sulfuric acid, and organic catalysts.

This initial trial was carried out at the Duri Utara Village landfill with direct assistance from the Sidoarjo Regency team.

Iin explained that Tambora District was chosen as the first pilot location because it had the characteristics of a densely populated area and produced specific types of waste.

"Tambora has the highest population density and land constraints for TPS. In addition, Tambora has the potential for waste from industrial waste. If it is not properly processed, this will be a problem," he explained.

After Tambora, the Jakbar City Government is committed to implementing the use of Eco Lindi in seven other sub-districts gradually, accompanied by coordination and socialization regarding the technology.

Meanwhile, the inventor of Eco Lindi liquid, Rania Naura Anindhita, revealed that this innovation has been developed since college about 4.5 years ago and is now being applied in more than seven landfills in Indonesia.

"The main ingredient is water lindi. The goal is to make environmentally friendly lindi water by triggering the catalysis process so that the garbage does not smell, does not produce methane gas, and does not invite flies," said Rania.

He also ensured that the liquid formulation is safe for the environment based on the test results that have been carried out.

"For security, I am quite confident because it has been practiced. In fact, when it was experimented on plants and fish ponds, the plants and fish did not die," he concluded.
