JAKARTA - The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has strengthened the implementation of the Digitalization of Learning Program as an effort to reduce the gap related to quality and relevant education services in the 3T area, including Teluk Bintuni Regency, West Papua Province.
The Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Mendikdasmen) Abdul Mu'ti said that this strengthening was realized through the distribution of digital learning devices in the form of Interactive Flat Panel (IFP), laptops, and storage media for learning content to educational units.
"Last year, the education digitization program was carried out through the assistance of one IFP device for each educational unit. Insyaa Allah in 2026, each school will receive an additional three IFPs so that each school will have a total of four digital learning support devices," said Mendikdasmen Mu'ti in a written statement broadcast in Jakarta on Sunday.
As part of the education digitization program, he said that in 2025 his party had distributed IFP assistance to 167 educational units in Teluk Bintuni Regency, making this regency one of the largest recipients of the education digitization program in West Papua Province.
Furthermore, Mu’ti said that the addition of digital devices was also accompanied by other support, ranging from teacher training, laptops, learning packages, to strengthening supporting infrastructure so that their use is truly optimal in supporting the learning process in schools.
"To support power readiness, the Ministry of Education works with PT PLN in adding free electricity to schools. This strategic step is taken so that schools in the region can make the most of learning technology without being constrained by basic infrastructure limitations," said Mu'ti.
According to him, the success of digital transformation is not only determined by the device alone, but also the readiness of human resources who use it.
Therefore, he continued, the Ministry of Education through the West Papua Provincial Education Quality Assurance Agency (BPMP) also carried out a scanning program in the form of socialization, mentoring, and coaching for schools receiving assistance.
Throughout 2025, he also mentioned that as many as 20 educational units in Teluk Bintuni received intensive assistance consisting of 5 PAUD, 5 elementary schools, 5 junior high schools, and 5 high schools.
Through this program, teachers and principals receive capacity building in integrating technology into the learning process so that the devices received can be utilized to the fullest.
The sustainability of the program is also strengthened through the presence of regional mentors who accompany the schools that receive assistance.
The assistance, said Mu'ti, is an important part of ensuring that digital transformation really has an impact on improving the quality of learning in the classroom.
On the same occasion, Teluk Bintuni Regent Yohanis Manimbuy conveyed that in addition to physical improvements, the IFP device assistance also brought about a real change in schools and opened up more interactive and modern learning opportunities.
