JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that there are employees of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) who received gratification related to the construction and maintenance of railway lines at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).

This suspicion emerged amid the anti-corruption commission's efforts to investigate alleged bribes at DJKA.

Two witnesses have been examined, namely Iman Sukandar and Benny Nurdin Yusuf as state civil servants (ASN) at the KPK's Red and White building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta on Tuesday, May 26.

"Investigators are asking for information about the alleged receipt made by parties at the Ministry of Transportation from the Head of the Land Transportation Management Office," Budi told reporters quoted on Friday, May 29.

"This examination is related to the alleged Article 12B (acceptance of gratification)," he continued.

The KPK previously continued to develop the bribery case for the construction of the railway line project of the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) in East Java. Most recently, Sudewo as a former Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2020-2024 was named a suspect.

Currently, Sudewo will soon undergo a trial at the Corruption Court. The case file has been transferred from the investigation stage to the prosecution stage.

Sudewo will not only be tried in connection with the DJKA bribery case but also in connection with alleged extortion while serving as the Regent of Pati.
