Israel Wants to Demolish Iran's Nuclear Enrichment Facility and Move Enriched Uranium

JAKARTA - The elimination of the nuclear threat from Iran, which must be included in the final agreement between the United States and Iran, requires the dismantling of Iran's enrichment facilities and enrichment of enriched uranium, according to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

PM Netanyahu said on Sunday, he and US President Donald Trump agreed that any final deal with Iran must eliminate the nuclear threat posed by Tehran.

Through a post on Telegram, Netanyahu said this would require the demolition of Iran's nuclear enrichment facilities and the removal of enriched nuclear material from its territory, Al Arabiya reported (25/5).

PM Netanyahu added that President Trump had reaffirmed Israel's right to defend itself against threats on all fronts, including in Lebanon.

Earlier, a senior Israeli official told AFP that Trump had assured Netanyahu that he would stick to his demands for the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program as a condition in any final deal with Tehran.

"President Trump explained that he would remain firm in negotiations on his long-standing demands for the dismantling of Iran's nuclear program and the removal of all enriched uranium from Iranian territory, and he would not sign a final agreement without these conditions," the official said, referring to the conversation between the two leaders on Saturday night.

"The United States is providing Israel with the latest information on negotiations regarding a memorandum of understanding to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and begin talks towards a final agreement on unresolved disputed issues," he continued.

During their talks, Netanyahu stressed that Israel "will defend its freedom of action against threats on all fronts, including Lebanon," the official said. "President Trump reiterated his support for this principle," he added.
