JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office (Kejagung) has named four new suspects in the alleged corruption case of the management of mining business permits (IUP) of PT QSS in West Kalimantan in 2017-2025.

Head of the Legal Information Center (Kapuspenkum) of the Attorney General's Office, Anang Supriatna, said the four suspects, namely:

- Suspect YA as Commissioner of PT QSS - Suspect IA as PT QSS Licensing Consultant and Director of PT BMU - Suspect HSFD as state organizer (Mining Analyst at the Directorate of Mineral Enterprise Development of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources) - Suspect AP as Director of PT QSS

"The determination of the suspect was carried out after the investigation team seized several documents and electronic evidence, a note of exposure with an expert in calculating state financial losses, as well as a series of investigative actions," he said.

As reported by the Attorney General's Office, PT QSS which operates in the bauxite mining sector was initially acquired by SDT, who was previously named a suspect, along with the suspect YA as commissioner of PT QSS.

The company has an Exploration IUP based on West Kalimantan Governor's Decree Number: 210/DISTAMBEN/2016 dated April 7, 2016.

At the time PT QSS had obtained the Production Operation and Work Plan and Budget (RKAB), there was a legal fact that the bauxite mining activity was not carried out in the area of PT QSS's IUP.

However, PT QSS still sells bauxite which turns out to be obtained from the purchase of bauxite outside the company's territory illegally.

"The purchase of bauxite was then exported using IUP OP, RKAB, and export approval recommendations belonging to PT QSS," he continued.

In the process of handling permits and export documents for bauxite, the suspect SDT asked for help from the suspect IA as a Consultant for PT QSS and the suspect AP as the Director of PT QSS to communicate and provide a certain amount of money to state organizers, namely the suspect HSFD, so that the permit would still be issued even though it did not meet the requirements.

"The result of the sale of bauxite that does not come from mining in the IUP area of PT QSS and the misuse of licensing documents to send bauxite illegally has resulted in financial losses to the state," said Anang.

The four suspects were charged with Articles 603 and 604 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.

The suspects AP, YA, and IA will be detained for the next 20 days at the Salemba Branch Detention Center of the Attorney General's Office, starting Friday (22/5). Meanwhile, the suspects SDT and HSFD are detained at the Salemba Branch Detention Center of the South Jakarta District Attorney's Office.

Previously, the Attorney General's Office had named the suspect SDT selakubeneficial owner (beneficial owner) of PT QSS as a suspect in this case.
