Attorney General Warns BPA Not to Let Seized Goods Linger

JAKARTA - Attorney General ST Burhanuddin reminded the Attorney General's Asset Recovery Agency (BPA) that seized goods from cases that have been incriminated should not stagnate or be left too long.

Burhanuddin said that if it was left alone for a long time, it would cause damage that would have an impact on the decline in economic value.

"Because if it lingers for a long time, what happens is damage. We also have to finance the maintenance. Then the custody of all of them, it will be a financing burden," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 21.

He also asked for urgent items to be sold so that they could be auctioned immediately and did not need to wait for a massive auction moment that takes place once a year.

"Maybe what can be auctioned by us all together once a year is okay, but urgent things, I hope this has an acceleration so that the state's finances can also be recovered soon," he said.

The Attorney General said the BPA Fair activity, which aims to auction seized goods, is a form of transparency for the Prosecutor's Office.

With an open auction process, he hopes the results can break public doubts about the management of convicted assets seized by the state.

"The answer to the public is that the auction results are there and we auction them openly so that what the public expects us to do these jobs, is perfect and complete," he said.

It is known that the Indonesian Attorney General's Office held a BPA Fair on May 18-21, 2026 to auction seized goods, ranging from luxury cars, luxury motorcycles, jewelry to gold paintings.

From the 308 items auctioned, 300 items have been sold. BPA also recorded a total auction value of IDR 997,479,436,000.00 consisting of a total limit of sold assets worth IDR 922,267,070,000.00 and the value of the auction price increase of IDR 74,758,949,000.00.
