Eradicating BOS Corruption, Subang Removes Disdik's Korwil Department

SUBANG - The chaotic management of the School Operational Assistance Fund (BOS) which often becomes a field of corruption and findings of the Financial Audit Agency (BPK) in various regions in Indonesia has been responded by the Subang Regency Government, West Java.

The Subang Regency Government officially cut the bureaucratic process and prepared a State Civil Service (ASN) specifically to take over the administration of financial reports at schools.

This bold step was taken because the complexity of the accountability reporting system (LPJ) has been considered to be deliberately used by certain individuals, as well as being an administrative burden that traps school principals into the legal realm.

The Regent of Subang, Reynaldy Putra, revealed that the lack of understanding of school principals in managing state budgets often triggers reports of accountability that are arbitrary and trigger state budget irregularities.

"This condition is a burden in itself for school principals. Sometimes it's not because of being naughty, but there are school principals who don't understand how to manage finances, how to manage funds so that they are careless in making letters of responsibility," said Reynaldy as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, May 21, 2026.

Through this new policy, the Subang Regency Government has placed ASN assistants who are specifically tasked with handling administrative issues of BOS funds.

This scheme is designed so that school principals can release the burden of financial bureaucracy which is not their main competence, and return their focus entirely to improving the quality and quality of national education.

"I want the school principal to focus on improving the school. For matters of accountability reports or the administration of BOS fund users, we will prepare ASN companions," he said.

Not only installing an accompanying barricade, the Subang Regency Government also cleaned up the bureaucracy by removing the position of Regional Coordinator (Korwil) of the Education Office.

The elimination of this structure is the most crucial point, because the position of the Korwil is accused of often being a dark bridge and an intermediary in the occurrence of irregularities and illegal collection of education funds.

With the abolition of the post, communication and coordination from schools is now required directly to the Education Office to cut the chain of corrupt bureaucracy.

"I don't want there to be any more via between the head of the school and the Education Office, which is bridged by Korwil in communicating or coordinating. The management of BOS funds so far is still a homework for the Subang Regency Government. For this reason, we will try to minimize the misuse of BOS funds by eliminating the Education Office Korwil and preparing ASN who are tasked with handling administration at schools," said Reynaldy.
