JAKARTA - Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Muhammad Tito Karnavian asked the regional government (Pemda) to maintain and strengthen political stability, security, and order in the region, one of which is by strengthening the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Forum for Religious Harmony (FKUB), and the Integrated Team for Handling Social Conflicts (TPKS)
The Minister of Home Affairs assessed that Forkopimdamemiliki has a very strategic role because it is a forum that brings together all elements of regional leaders who have great authority in maintaining security and order stability.
"I see that there are three things in the area that are very important to maintain stability, politics, and security in their respective areas. One is Forkopimda, because the forum is all leaders who have power, there is Pangdam, Kapolda, Kajari, Kapolres, Kajati, Kabinda, it is very influential," said Tito when giving an explanation at the Coordination Meeting of Forkopimda throughout Maluku and Nusa Tenggara reported by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 19.
The activity was entitled The Role of the Central Government in Achieving Increased Synergy to Maintain Harmony, Security, and Public Order.
Tito said the FKUB has an important role in maintaining community harmony, especially in areas that are vulnerable to religious issues. However, one of the challenges of the FKUB in the region today is that it is still limited in terms of budget support so that its movement space is limited.
"If (FKUB) moves, walks, and is proactive, they will visit areas that are prone to these issues, (the area) will usually be calm. But if FKUB does not work, it will only (like) a fire extinguisher (acting) after the incident," he said.
The Minister of Home Affairs also asked the Regional Government to form and activate the TPKS Team.
According to him, there are still areas that have not formed or optimized the team.
The formation of TPKS is a regulatory mandate, including Law Number 7 of 2012 concerning the Handling of Social Conflicts which was strengthened by Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government, as well as other derivative regulations.
The Minister of Home Affairs added that the team has an important role in drafting action plans for handling social conflicts, ranging from conflict prevention, conflict cessation, to post-conflict recovery in the region.
"The importance of forming a team to handle social conflicts, that is also a mandate from the Presidential Decree, there is also a PP, there is also a law to handle social conflicts," he said.
Tito explained that the main agenda of the activities in NTB was actually the award to the regional government (Pemda) that had achieved achievements in the Maluku and Nusa Tenggara regions.
However, upon agreement with the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam), this forum then also became a momentum for coordination of Forkopimda.
This meeting was also attended by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Djamari Chaniago, Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait, NTB Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Governor Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, Governor of Maluku Hendrik Lewerissa, Governor of North Maluku Sherly Tjoanda, and the ranks of Forkopimda throughout Maluku and Nusa Tenggara.
