"We arrested one perpetrator with the initials RS and another perpetrator is still being pursued," said Cilincing Police Chief AKP Bobi Subasri in Jakarta, Antara, Monday, May 18.
Bobi explained that the theft incident occurred on Tuesday, May 12 at around 21.00 WIB when traffic flow in the Rusun Cilincing Bridge area was congested. When vehicles slowed down due to congestion, the two perpetrators carried out their actions by taking a number of items from a delivery service car that was passing by.
The perpetrator of the hospital alias Bocor was arrested on Thursday, May 14 and has now been secured at the Cilincing Police to undergo further examination.
Meanwhile, one other perpetrator is still being pursued and is on the wanted list.
The police are also still investigating the case to uncover the possibility of the involvement of other parties.
Bobi emphasized that the police would respond quickly to every report and information from the community as a form of protection and security services.
"We emphasize that there is no room for perpetrators of crimes to carry out actions in the Cilincing area. If the community finds any indication of criminal acts, immediately contact 110 to get police services," he said.
Previously, a video showing two men allegedly "jumping" into a freight car and stealing a number of packages had circulated on social media.
After carrying out the action, the two perpetrators were seen fleeing to the bottom of the bridge, which is suspected to be the location of dropping the stolen goods.
