JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung accompanied Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka to review the progress of the Jakarta MRT Phase 2A construction route from Bundaran HI to Kota. The review was carried out from the Sawah Besar MRT Station to the Harmoni MRT Station.
During the review, Pramono ensured that the MRT phase 2 project was still running according to target. Currently, the progress of construction is said to have reached 59 percent.
"We reviewed the location from Sawah Besar to Harmoni. Overall, the current construction progress has reached about 59 percent. Based on information from the President Director of MRT Jakarta, the commissioning process will begin in mid-2027, with an operational target to Harmoni no later than the end of 2027," said Pramono, Tuesday, May 12.
The DKI Provincial Government also targets the completion of the extension line to the Old City area by the end of 2029. If this target is achieved, then the entire main route of the Jakarta MRT will be fully connected.
Pramono said that the construction of the MRT did not stop in the north-south corridor. Currently, the East-West MRT project has also entered the next stage, ranging from land acquisition to determining the route and station points.
"In addition, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also continuing the East-West MRT route project, which is now entering the land acquisition, route determination, and station point determination stages. If all processes go smoothly, the first segment is targeted to operate in 2030," said Pramono.
He also touched on the challenges of constructing the underground project. According to him, Sawah Besar and Mangga Besar stations are the deepest points with a depth of 28 meters below ground level.
Pramono said thousands of workers involved in this project were local workers.
Meanwhile, Gibran appreciated the progress of the MRT Phase 2A construction which was considered still on target. He also highlighted the collaboration between the central government and the DKI Provincial Government in the development of public transportation in Jakarta.
"This is a collaboration project between the central government and the local government. Overall, the construction progress has reached about 59 percent. At the end of 2027, the Bundaran HI-Monas line will be connected and begin operating, then continue to the Kota Station by the end of 2029. Thank you to the board of directors, construction team, and workers who have worked day and night so that construction runs according to target," he said.
Apart from infrastructure development, Gibran also appreciated the DKI Provincial Government's policy of providing public transportation tariff exemptions to 15 groups of people, including the elderly and people with disabilities.
According to Gibran, the development of public transportation is one of the government's priorities to reduce the use of private vehicles and improve the quality of citizen mobility.
"Safe, comfortable, integrated, and modern public transportation will encourage people to switch from private vehicles. The most important thing is to ensure that these services are safe and comfortable for children, women, pregnant women, the elderly, and people with disabilities," concluded Gibran.
