JAKARTA - The Jakarta Central Class I State Prison (Rutan Salemba) held a urine test for officers and inmates in a pledge and strengthening of supervision of a clean prison from illegal cellphones, drugs and fraud.

"In the implementation of the urine test, all participants consisting of officers and inmates undergo examination as an effort to detect early drug abuse in the prison environment," said Head of the Jakarta Central Class I State Prison, Wahyu Trah Utomo, Saturday, May 9.

In addition, the joint officers also carried out a sudden inspection (sidak) to a number of residential rooms for inmates or convicts randomly.

"The raid on the residential room was carried out to ensure that there were no prohibited items, including illegal cellphones and drugs, in the residential area of the residents," he said.

Wahyu emphasized that this activity is a form of real commitment of the prison management in supporting the creation of a clean, safe, orderly, and drug-free prison environment, illegal use of cellphones, and fraudulent practices that can disrupt security and order within the penal institution.

The implementation of the activity was attended by law enforcement officers from the Cempaka Putih Police and the Cempaka Putih Koramil as a form of synergy between agencies in strengthening supervision and enforcement of rules in the correctional environment.

In addition, continued Wahyu, the pledge activity was also witnessed by members of the community and other stakeholders, including the Central Jakarta Ministry of Religion Guidance Association, academics from STT Kingdom Jakarta, and representatives of the DKI Jakarta Provincial BNNP, which was attended by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial BNNP Rehabilitation Team.

"This is a concrete step in realizing a clean and ethical prison and supporting the acceleration program of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections in eradicating the circulation of drugs and the use of illegal communication tools in prisons and detention centers," he explained.

Wahyu hopes that through this activity, a strong synergy can be created between the prison system, law enforcement officers, academics, and the community in maintaining security and creating a prison environment free from drugs, illegal cellphones, and all forms of fraud.
