TSI Bidik Management of Bandung Zoo, Prioritize Animal Conservation

BANDUNG - Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) has expressed its readiness to participate in the bidding process for the management of the Bandung Zoo as part of its commitment to the sustainability of conservation functions, animal welfare, and the professional and sustainable governance of conservation institutions.

As a form of seriousness, TSI has followed the initial stages facilitated by the Bandung City Government, including participating in a market sounding forum related to the Bandung Zoo Animal Park management plan.

The President Director of Taman Safari Indonesia, Aswin Sumampau, said that his party is still waiting for official clarity regarding the next stages of the auction process.

"For us, the management of conservation institutions is not only an operational issue, but also a long-term trust related to animal welfare, public education aspects, compliance with regulations, and institutional sustainability. Therefore, the management process must be carried out prudently, measured, and prioritize conservation interests," said Aswin in his statement, Thursday, May 7.

TSI hopes that the management process of the Bandung Zoo can run transparently, accountable, and provide equal opportunities for parties who have the capacity and commitment to manage conservation institutions.

Aswin emphasized, as a conservation agency, TSI has the responsibility to ensure that all animals receive standards of care, health, and welfare in accordance with the principles of animal welfare and applicable conservation provisions.

"Our main focus is to ensure that all decisions taken continue to place the safety, health, and well-being of animals as the top priority, while respecting the process, the authority of regulators, and applicable provisions," he said.

With more than 40 years of experience in managing conservation institutions in Indonesia, TSI assessed that the Bandung Zoo has strategic potential to develop into a modern conservation institution with international standards without losing its historical value and its closeness to the people of Bandung City.

TSI also emphasized the importance of certainty in the management process, considering that currently there are a number of state-owned animals that are placed in the Bandung Zoo through the applicable mechanism.

According to TSI, certainty of management is an important factor to ensure the safety and welfare of the animals are maintained sustainably.
