Six rioters during May Day in Bandung positive for consuming prohibited drugs

BANDUNG - The West Java Regional Police (Polda) revealed that six suspects who became rioters during the International Labor Day or May Day 2026 in the City of Bandung, were proven positive for consuming prohibited drugs.

Head of Public Relations of West Java Police Kombes Hendra Rochmawan said the six suspects were involved in the burning of a police post and a videotron in the Tamansari area.

"This is very worrying. In addition to committing acts of anarchy, these suspects are known to be under the influence of illegal drugs of the Tramadol type when they act," said Hendra in Bandung, Monday, May 4, as reported by ANTARA.

The six suspects have initials MRN (21), MRA (17), RS (19), MFNA (19), FAP (21), and HIS (20). They had previously been named as suspects for alleged arson and destruction of public facilities together.

In addition to the urine test results, the police also secured a number of psychotropic evidence from one of the suspects, including Alprazolam granules and other drugs.

According to him, the case of drug abuse will also be followed up by the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the West Java Police.

"Officers also seized attributes that were suspected to be related to certain groups, such as flags and stickers found in the bags of the perpetrators," he said.

Hendra emphasized that his party would investigate the possibility of the involvement of certain groups who were suspected of using students to carry out violent acts.

"We will conduct an in-depth examination regarding the origin of the drugs and the motivation behind the symbols they carry," he said.
