JAKARTA - On the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day on May 3, the Chairman of the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (SMSI) Firdaus appreciated the Ministry of Law and Human Rights which was considered to have facilitated the process of managing legal entities for press companies in Indonesia.

He said World Press Freedom Day, celebrated every May 3 since it was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 1993. Firdaus also asked all levels of society and state apparatus to support press freedom, which is in line with supporting human rights.

"At the same time, we appreciate the Ministry of Law and Human Rights for having given legal legitimacy to media companies," he said.

He assessed that to accelerate freedom, there was no need for other legitimacy that would complicate the efforts of the press, such as the verification of the press company by the Press Council.
