Commission III of the DPR urges the National Police and the Attorney General's Office to investigate the irregularities of the murder of a family in Indramayu

Member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Abdullah, asked for serious attention from law enforcement officials to the case that ensnared Ririn Rifanto, the defendant in the murder of a family in Paoman, Indramayu. He urged the Indonesian National Police and the Attorney General's Office to investigate the irregularities of the case.

Abdullah's insistence came after an incident at the Indramayu District Court on Wednesday, April 29, when Ririn shouted in front of reporters after the continuation of the trial.

"This case must receive serious attention," Abdullah told reporters, Saturday, May 2.

In his statement, Ririn confirmed that he was not the perpetrator of the murder of Budi Awaludin and his family which occurred at the end of August 2025. Ririn also admitted that he had been tortured during the examination process, causing his leg to break and forcing him to admit to being the perpetrator.

In response to this, Abdullah considered that this case contained a number of irregularities that should not be ignored. Therefore, he urged the National Police and the Attorney General's Office to immediately conduct a thorough investigation.

"Don't let there be any practice of torture against suspects or defendants to force confessions, even though the person concerned is not the actual perpetrator," said Abdullah.

Furthermore, the PKB legislator from the Central Java District highlighted the absence of witnesses who saw the murder directly in the trial, which he said further strengthened the irregularities in handling the case.

Abdullah emphasized that law enforcement must run in accordance with the principles of justice and human rights. Therefore, he asked that there be no deviation in the investigation and prosecution process.

"The National Police Headquarters and the Attorney General's Office must intervene. If violations are found, both by investigators and prosecutors, they must be dealt with firmly in accordance with applicable laws," he said.

Abdullah ensured that Commission III of the DPR RI would continue to monitor the development of this case to ensure that the legal process was transparent, accountable, and just for all parties.
