Aceh Police Destroy 20 Hectare of Cannabis Fields in Lampanah

BANDA ACEH - The Aceh Police have destroyed 20 hectares of marijuana fields spread across several points in the Lampanah area, Aceh Besar Regency, with an estimated weight of 50 tons.

The Aceh Police Chief, Inspector General Marzuki Ali Basyah, said that the marijuana field was the result of the Aceh Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate's findings.

"Aceh Police found about 20 hectares of marijuana fields scattered in several points with an estimated harvest of 50 tons. However, those destroyed in Lampanah, this is three hectares," he said as reported by ANTARA, Thursday, April 29.

The discovery and destruction of the double field was carried out within the framework of Operation Antik Seulawah 2026, the destruction involving the ranks of the Aceh Besar Police, TNI soldiers, local government elements, and others.

In the destruction, the Aceh Police also involved young millennial farmers as part of a long-term strategy in inviting the community not to plant marijuana. The destruction was carried out by uprooting and burning the prohibited plants.

"They are expected to be agents of change, socializing and educating the public to replace cannabis plants with productive commodities, such as coffee, vegetables, and other economically valuable plants," he said.
